Eco-columns

This quarter in science as part of your study of ecosystems you constructed an eco-column. Tell me several things you learned about plant and animal interaction (be sure to use some of the vocabulary words you learned) and then tell me what you enjoyed about this unit.

Our Heritage

Last quarter in social studies we studied geography. This quarter we are focusing on society and culture and, in particular, we are looking at immigration and migration and the foods, clothing, holidays and customs of various countries. It seems to me that leaving everything familiar and one's family would be very difficult, not to mention risky.

In light of the above, please respond to the following:
Why do people leave their homelands and all that is familiar, to come to America? Would you?

Our Changing World

This quarter in science we studied landforms and the forces that shape them. Using the vocabulary we learned tell me about your favorite part of the unit and about one way forces shape our world.

A little about me. . .

My name is Mr. Gilliam. I was born in Virginia but have been living in Winston-Salem for the past sixteen years. This is my fifth year at Bolton. I love learning and especially reading and history. I have degrees from the University of Virginia, Westminster Theological and Salem College. I am AG Certified.

Welcome to the Fifth Grade!

I look forward to being your teacher this year! I have planned many exciting learning activities! This year we will integrate technology into all subject areas. We will we blog reading responses, we will create presentations and publish writing. We will also use technology for research.
