Last quarter in social studies we studied geography. This quarter we are focusing on society and culture and, in particular, we are looking at immigration and migration and the foods, clothing, holidays and customs of various countries. It seems to me that leaving everything familiar and one's family would be very difficult, not to mention risky.
In light of the above, please respond to the following:
Why do people leave their homelands and all that is familiar, to come to America? Would you?

I think different families came to America because they could have a better future and a better jobs for their family and children. I think they also came because of better healthcare. If I was in an other country and I had an option to move to America I would because I would want to have a better life for me and my family.
ReplyDeleteI think people leave their homes for more food, rights or for better jobs, health care or there could be a war in the area they live in. I would leave my home because I can have a better life,I would miss my family but I would have a better life and my family could maybe come with me.
ReplyDeletePeople leave their homelands and all that is familiar to come to America because they might need better chances in life or maybe to have better jobs or maybe for the schools that are there. Some people come to America because of the medical attention.I would come to America for the same reasons.
ReplyDeleteI think the main reason people leave their country is they have no say/no freedom or they want better lives/follow their dreams.If I lived in a country like that I would be out of there like a roadrunner.
ReplyDeleteHere are a few reasons people might leave their own countries for the land of the free home and of the brave. 1. there might be more freedom in America then their home countries. 2. their friends might be in America. 3. there might be better wages and more jobs. I would come to America if I was in another country.
ReplyDeleteSome people move to search for better lives because this is a free country.I would leave a place where the wife can only walk ten feet behind their husbands.And if you steal you get your hands chopped off.
ReplyDeleteMany people had left their homeland to come to America. The reason why they do that is because they want a better life for them and their children. Also they probaly come for better jobs and better health. Would you leave leave your homeland to have a better life, a better job, or better health.
ReplyDeleteOne reason why people leave from their homelands is that you need to move because of a war. In the book we are reading one of the main characters, Phillip, and his mother needed to go back to Virginia, so that they don't get killed by German subs. Another few reasons are:
ReplyDelete1. They need to move of harsh weather conditions, because they cannot adapt to the weather conditions of thier native land.
2. They need more employment for them and thier families, so they can live and eat.
3. They need more food, I mean in some colder regions of the world, say Siberia, Russia, won't have much food and produce, this also refers to raising cattle and other farm animals.
4. They are under a harsh dictatorship where they are bound by will to serve and worship thier rulers.
5. Just because they wanted to, in my opinion Washington is a whole lot better than Africa.
6. They needed freedom, repeated from dictatorship.
Well if I had the choice I would say that I would want to go, or if its the best place in my opinion I would want to leave. It just depends on the options, the pros and cons, and what makes me happy and sad there. Well this is the end of this long long long paragraph. Alot of places have rulers. We don't and that why tha came to us.Now I wounld live my home if I had a bad ruler.
ReplyDeleteSure,I would leave anywhere to come to this great place. Some African-Americans were captured and brought here as slaves. Some came to make a better living, others because their homes were at war. Even though I would come here in the first place.
ReplyDeletePeople leave there homeland cause some country is running out of food and sometimes it is getting attacked and sometimes they are running out of fresh water. Yes I would leave my country cause my country might run out of fresh water and food and it could be destroyed and other people might take over.
ReplyDeletePeople mostly leave their homelands and all that is familiar because of slavery or they got kidnapped and got brought here. If people were not kidnapped and brought here they would probably want to come anyway because of more freedom. If I had to choose I would want to come to America for more freedom,better health care,and no slavery. WOULD YOU LIKE TO COME TO AMERICA?
ReplyDeleteI think people come to America because they want a better life. They might come to have a better education and a better future. They might also come because they have other relative's. Also because they want better previliges. I would come to America if I was in another country.
ReplyDeleteI think people leave the country there in because places like Africa who always have adults that aren't a part of the war killed so they should move. If I had to choose to move from a certain country I would say yes.

Well, why would people leave their home is because they what a better life for their kids. Also because they were staring in their country. But I would leave there with my family because we would have a better chance of surviving.
